A Healthy Alternative

French fries are one of those guilty pleasures that are hard to replace.  How can it get any better than a fried and heavily salted potato? Since many of us are ready to cut back after the holidays I thought I’d share a healthy alternative that my family and I really love.  The great thing about this recipe is that it’s easy and can be done so many ways!

Other than the recipe being great keep in mind that sweet potatoes are also good for you.  Here are 5 reasons why sweet potatoes are awesome:

  1. Help prevent cancer
  2. Help stabilize blood sugar
  3. Great for your skin
  4. Boosts immune system
  5. Good sources of fiber, beta carotene (vitamin A), vitamin C, and vitamin B6

Teeza’s Cajun (sometimes Jerk)  Sweet Potato Fries

5 sweet potatoes
2 tbsps olive oil/a few sprays of cooking oil spray
Coat and toss with your favorite seasoning ( I usually use Tony Chachere or my “Jerk” seasoning)
Salt and Pepper to taste

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Cut the sweet potatoes into your preferred style of french fries and toss them in with seasonings and oil until all of the fries are lightly coated. Take a cookie sheet and put your sweet potato fries on the sheet making sure that they are organized into one layer. Place in the oven for 20 minutes, flip your fries over and leave them in the oven for another 20 minutes. Serve 🙂
